Ladies and Gentelmen start your engines.........Engine31957 that is. Laughing

Here's John and Nancy's 19' 1982 Pioneer
It's been a long while but this hard running Pioneer is more than worth the wait. John & Nancy picked this boat up less engine in July of 2005. The boat had been stored for about 10 years when John stumbled across it almost by accident. After a call to Glen Schuler at Pleasure Boat specialties for info on Pioneers, they discussed hull type and condition and John found out just what kind of gem he had discovered. They wasted no time in tearing into the boat and getting it into prime time shape.

The engine is a bored Ford 460 with a Comp roller cam, Comp roller rockers, 10.5-1 JE pistons, Miller al rods, ported and polished 95cc heads, 10 quart dooley pan, MSD AL6, coil, and pro billet distributer, and Basset headers.

One of the new additions to the Pioneer in addition to the BG Fuel regulator are a pair of 750 Quick Fuel Carbs. They are sitting on top of a polished Weiand Tunnel ram with #10 AN fittings and line from the Holley Mech pump to the regulator and #8's to the carbs

The Make over did not stop there, there is the new carpet and seats done this year. They had a friend sew the interior and the workmanship is outstanding.

John purchased all new Auto Meter Cobalt gauges and bezels, and a new steering wheel and set back picking up the purple in the seats and matching it to the bezels and hardware.

The pump is a Berkeley with a G bowl, Place droop, hydraulic Place Diverter and a B impeller

I wish I had some better shots of the deck because it has some great pin stripe work. John is planning to have some more Stripe work done. When he took the boat in to get looked at by Mike the Stripe from Milpitas, Mike recognized the work as his own, he had done it many years earlier.

Great looking boat you guys! Cool

Pioneers were (and are) Great boats weve owned a few They were made by Steve& Kim Hall about 100 feet from where my shop and showroom are now, pinstripes and lettering then were by "Dick" who actually lived in one of my upper shops at one time and Upholstry was done across the driveway. One of my best buddys Greg Stark campaigned a Pioneer rag hull as a Comp jet boat in the late 70's (NJBA record in the late seventies). One of the fastest boats weve owned over the years was a 18' Pioneer outlaw sprint which was like your boat with a 'set back pod" built Lots of Steves designs were very similar to Southwind and Eliminator and I belive he may have even been associated with them at one time.Almost all Steves (and friends)boat were "Country something" like CountryCookin,Cruzin etc Very Nice Boat !! Tom

BTW boy do I feel dumb just realized this is last Aprils post Oh well !! Smile
