BAE found his boat in September 2003 in Oceanside California. He was looking for a tunnel hull that he could achive his goal with. BAE's goal for his boat is a unique one indeed and the work that he has put into his boat is amazing. Along the way he has found out what works for his setup and what needed to be changed. What started out as a pump gas motor evolved into a blown alcohol deal and now is a Nitromethane powered monster. Now after 2 years of rigging, testing, motor changes, bottom work,& pump work BAE is ready to meet his goal.
Boat: 1980 Mach 1 Tunnel
Engine: Brad Anderson 557cid Nitromethane powered Hemi
pump: MPD preped Berkeley with an Aggressor imp.
Bottom done by Jeff Bennett
There is so much more to this boat than listed and the pics don't show what a beautiful job William has done, it really needs to be seen in person to get the total effect.
September 2003. This is what BAE started with
October 2003 BAE puts in a blown Alcohol motor
more changes fall 2003
September 2004
February 2005 in with the Hemi, pump work, and bottom changes

William's boat is definately a work of art! It is a prime example of the hobby turning into an obsession, which, as we all know, happens to the best of us .
I hear he's going to Bako Saturday to pick up the newest version of the BAE.
I can't wait to see it run! _________________ If it ain't broke, keep fixing it 'til it is! |

Thanks to all for the comments and support, I really appreciate it.
I just brought home the newest version of the BAE 557 from Boghosian Racing Engines yesterday, I hope to get it fired and back in service next weekend to see how it responds with the new jet pump hardware. _________________ -

Don,
Everything has been stepped up again, from the jet pump hardware to the engine. I need to get it out on the water soon, make necessary adjustments, then put this project to rest.
How are things coming with the PC, I still want to talk with you regarding your conversation with Glen.

Wow! Cool ride. So what kind of MPH are you seeing? Looks scary, but thats whats so fun about it I suspect. _________________ ASSASSIN |

The boat now pulls very hard, the current combination of the engine, pump and keel work seems to be right.
The engine is fresh, tuned and making big power, it is turning the stainless AAA cut impeller 10,000 RPM.
I can't thank Brian F Racing, Fuller Fabrications, Boghosian Racing, Marine Performance Designs and Jeff Bennett
enough for their continued effort on this project.
If everything goes well, I will post verified MPH numbers after the Easter run at Modesto Res. _________________ -

The Easter deal was a rain-out so I am going to give it a try in the late evening on Memorial Day. _________________ -

I tried to make it to CFW, but had an issue with a couple of exhaust pushrods. Here are a few current pictures.....

After the July 2nd run at Modesto, I am very close to finishing what I've started.
Around 7:30 PM from a ~25 MPH rolling start to flattening the butterflys and hitting 10,000 RPM for a count of 4,
the GPS recorded a max speed of 141 MPH.
I would have legged it out a bit longer but it was very difficult to get flat water for that period of time and distance.
I think the current setup will achieve the final goal hopefully next time out.
Many thanks today to Brian (Blue Boat), Steve G and John (Camoman) for helping with the run.
