Mrs P, Heatseeker, and t_birder,
Thanks for the suggestions on coatings and cleaners.
Picked up a Nicson whip strut and rudder for my project.
This was located in Napa, CA
The rudder appears to be NOS with the letters GS or CS. The seller did not have any further information. This is out of Bakersfield, CA _________________ napabob

napabob,
WOW! I just did a visit through all 17 pages of your thread and got really excited about your boat...again. Your dedication and patience to hunting down era correct parts for this boat is amazing. I'm going to have to check this thread more often. Very, very, veeeeeery cool project.
I hope to one-day do something similar with a SBC that I have rat holed away that my dad bought new in '64 and a as yet un-found Stevens hull. There's a boat burned in my memory bank that my dad showed me in '67 when I was 11 years old, tied to the dock at Havasu Springs that I've always lusted after. Someday. |

old rigger,
Do you have an example image of the Stevens hull that you are looking for (More eyes are better than one set)?
I was hoping to meet you at the Tower Park Marina, but I see that you are no longer listed (I thought that you were at one time).
I should have more images of the boat taken off the trailer soon to remove all of the dry rot items. _________________ napabob

I have a ton of pictures of Stevens flats, but pretty much any 17 footer from the 61-8 era would do it for me. Wouldn't do any good to post pictures, be my luck someone would come across one and I don't have the cash to spend on a v-drive right now. lol
Too busy buying parts for my new Model A Ford.
No, I'm no longer listed on the TP roster...going to Indy instead! Chance of a lifetime for me so I'm taking it. |

OR--Here's one in central CA

My next project is a 1968 17'-10" Sanger Flat with a SBC--hopefully this next winter. Bob, I've also enjoyed following your project and am looking forward to seeing it in the water. We'll have to go to some of the classic v-drive outings together. |

I just picked this Nicson strut to complete the shaft log, whip strut, and now strut for my boat project.
It will need a little metal work and some chrome plating. _________________ napabob

Sanger Pete,
Below is a quote from Harlan Orrin.
"Hello
We live in Fallrook CA, in northern San Diego Co. Sanger built all wood and all glass boats ln the early '60s. I know of 2 all wood 17', there was an all glass 17' at the first Sanger reunion. Yours is the first wood deck on a glass 17' that I know of. Clyde has his all wood 17' for sale, w/ 392 Chrysler.
Harlan Orrin"
The boat for sale on eBay would be an earlier known Sanger with a wood deck on fiberglass hull on a different model. _________________ napabob

Kindsvater Flat,
Thanks for the images. I have placed them in my research folder to look at how some of the items are attached to the engine.

Just read all 17 pages cool work your doing cool project!
On the 392 Firepower valve covers would be correct
I am looking for the Dimpled Fire power covers for my 392 and the Adjustable rockers to go with them.
The dimpled rockers are for a solid cam set up available on the 57-58 Chrysler 300 ONLY!
I have two sets of Firepower rocker covers now one with to sets of Offenhauser breathers on them. may be willing to sell or trade after I find what I am looking for.
Any info on a stock set of dimpled rockers and the rocker arms greatly appreciated _________________ Dennis

Doright,
I have not updated my thread for a while, thanks for reading.
Some other projects have been consuming my disposable income.
The HEMI 58C's were used on the Chrysler Imperials.
http://www.thehemi.com/engines.php?id=58IM392
The set of valve covers on the engine dry set up have some breathers also (They are for sale).
Somewhere I read that when Keith Black was asked on short notice to provide surface racing engines he used some 392 HEMI's that still had the Chrysler Marine valve covers.
I will keep an eye out for the dimples and adjustables. _________________ napabob
